Terry Rataiczak is a member and past president of the Marietta club. He will take over as the District

Foundation Chair in July. Rotary has over 1.4 million members making a difference around the world.

RI has spent over $3.7 billion on clean water and polio eradication. The Rotary Foundation, TRF, is

critical to all that RI does. TRF's mission is to help Rotary members to advance world

understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the

environment, and alleviating poverty. Rotarians can be proud of TRF. It has been ranked 4 stars

(their highest rating) by the independent rating agency Charity Navigator for 14 years. For the

last 3 years it has received a 100% rating. TRF has been ranked the #1 charity in the world for the

last 3 years. 91% of all funds are spent on program awards and operations. There are 3 funds in

TRF, Annual Fund, Endowment Fund, Polio Plus Fund. The Annual Fund is the primary source of funds

that support RI's programs and areas of focus. Contributions to the Annual Fund are invested for

three years to generate earnings to meet the Foundation’s operating expenses. Contributions from

all the clubs in the district are divided between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund

(DDF). At the end of three years, the district can use the DDF to pay for Foundation, club, and

district projects. So a part of all donations come back to the District and Clubs. District 6690

has numerous Global Grant programs running including Natun Guatemala (formerly known as Mayan

Families), Rafiki Children's Center, and Heart to Heart. With RI's 7 areas of focus, there are

plenty of opportunities to find something that you can be passionate about, including peacemaker

awards, disaster relief, and others. With the Gates Foundation matching, a $25 donation grows to

allow 475 kids to have polio vaccines. Polio Plus has vaccinated over 2.5 billion children. TRF can

react quickly. $15.7 million went to the Ukraine operation through a quick pivot, which included

District 6690 supplying

$67,000 of the $15.7 million. Our Club receives a matching grant for our dictionary/ thesaurus

program each year. It is easy to donate through the club treasurer or though the My Rotary site.

Donations through the 125 Club support TRF and Polio

Plus. District 6690 is a model to many other districts throughout Rotary.
